The cruise staff were professional and always helpful. They were informative and knowledgeable. Our cruise manager was amazing. Marcelo kept us informed and was able to manage the transfer of ships due to low water levels on the Rhine. My wife and I are ready to book the Budapest to Prague trip for next year and have already put money down. Everything on our first trip was outstanding. Food was awesome and the wait staff were great. The meals were beyond expectation and had a wide range of tastes. I have nothing but praise for your cruise line and highly recommend it to friends. The places we visited were interesting and what we were expecting. The schedules were always met and the guides were all very knowledgeable of the cities we visited. I had a great time and enjoyed every day. I really look forward to another cruise with AmaWaterways.
Overall we had a wonderful trip. We were welcome from day one and the service was wonderful. From the day we were picked up at the airport to the day we left to go home we felt like we were apart of the family. Our accommodations were great and centrally located. On the first day we were approached by the chef about going to his chef table meal. We accepted and really had a wonderful time with great various entrees. I even got the recipe for his corn soup which was wonderful. Each of our wonderful meals were great. My one complaint is that I eat too much and have to try and diet now.
Casually elegant river cruise ship with fantastic service and an intensive port schedule. We booked the owner's suite, which is the largest cabin board at 305 sq. ft.. There was a large comfortable bed, sitting area with two chairs and a sofa bed. There was a good sized bathroom with a tub and a shower. The shower was small (although average by cruise ship standards.) I was surprised at how much closet space there was. My wife packed 5 suitcases (including carry-ons). We had enough room for everything except one large suitcase, which our cabin steward packed for us until the last day. We did not need all the clothes we packed. The Owners Suite comes with complimentary laundry. We did laundry four out of seven days. Also complimentary, the refrigerator stocked with juices and soft drinks as well as a bowl of fresh fruit, both here replenished daily. The room has a dedicated "butler" in addition to the cabin steward, however, she really did not attend to us at all. We ate our meals in the main dining room. The food and service were so good, we decided to skip the tasting menu at the Chef's Table. Tips about dining: You can order "off the menu" through your waiter or Maître D. Steak and chicken are available every night, if you don't like the fancier menu. If you want to book the Chef's Table, do so before embarkation, or as soon as you board, to get the night you'd like. Wine and beer are included with every meal. The wine is not high end. . . but passable. We would have preferred ordering a few high-end reds by the bottle, but the wine list is not too extensive. The only exception is champagne, which includes a few nice bottles. There is a one-hour happy hour every day with complimentary cocktails, beer and wine. This was always the hour directly before dinner. We gave the bartender a generous tip on day one. The pours were better and he slipped us an occasional complimentary night cap after that. The gym is small, but functional, with two bicycles, two treadmills and a weight machine. TIP: Bottled water is NOT available on board. . . except at the gym. We grabbed a bottle now and then before excursions. The front desk will trade dollars to euros and Swiss francs, but the exchange rate is very poor. I suggest bringing currency from home or hitting up an ATM. Don't worry about booking shore excursions before you cruise. There is plenty of time to book on board. Excursions rarely "sell out." There is pre-dinner music during cocktail hour and after dinner entertainment every night. It's not going to include grand shows you see of ocean cruises. One night it was karaoke. Service is amazing. Most crew members knew my name by the end of the cruise. You won't be disappointed on this cruise!
Although my original cruise was to start on the Ama Sophia, I was transferred to the Ama Viola. My room was upgraded which gave me the opportunity to enjoy gorgeous views through the balcony doors as we cruised. I have to say I had an awesome time cruising on the Rheine River. While on the cruise, the staff helped me celebrate my birthday with a delicious cake, which I shared with other travelers. Also, I received a beautiful bracelet from the ship’s gift shop which no one admitted to giving me. Thank you to the giver, it is beautiful! The sites seen (cathedrals, castles, windmills and the Keukenhof Gardens) were amazing to visit. The staff was very friendly and informative. My last day which was on the original cruise ship, the Ama Sophia, I was told that I would get cruise credits. Due to this, I’ll definitely be enjoying another river cruise soon.
