Ship Reviews

WHERE THE QUEST SHINED: White Night – Absolutely spectacular! We’ve cruised with Cunard, Norwegian, and Celebrity, and this was the best onboard party we’ve ever attended. Service – Overall very good and friendlier than other lines. (Note: Service in Discoveries could be slow at times, depending on the waiter.) AzAmazing Evening – Very enjoyable! Ours was held on the St. Maarten pier. Despite a brief rain shower, it was a lot of fun. Dining – Aside from the Windows buffet, food was excellent. Prime C was superb, and the Patio was the best poolside grill we’ve experienced. Unlimited gelato and specialty coffees at Mosaic were a big plus (even the few paid options were reasonably priced). Laundry – Complimentary washers and dryers were a huge convenience. Arriving 10 minutes before opening meant no wait. Internet – The Quest offers two very different internet package. The more expensive Starlink option worked very well. OTHER PLUSES: No tipping policy Both guest lecturers were consistently engaging across multiple topics Minimal passenger segregation (only specialty restaurant lunches and Sanctum spa front area were restricted) Shorter lines compared to larger ships Onboard shops were good for a ship this size Fun New Year’s party AREAS NEEDING IMPROVEMENT: Windows Buffet – Disappointing. Hot items often sat too long under heat lamps, and opening at noon made it hard to grab lunch before excursions. Port Intensive Claim – This itinerary didn’t feel very port intensive. Compared to our previous cruises on the same route, only St. Kitts and St. Maarten had longer stays. As scuba divers, docking after 7 a.m. made reaching dive boats difficult. Fitness Classes – While free, options were limited. We’d love two daily sessions each of spin, Pilates, yoga, Zumba, and core strength in addition to stretch classes. Ship Condition – The Quest feels dated: Noticeable rocking and slower speed (early departure from Tortola required) Heavy, worn doors—especially on the pool deck, where some wouldn’t close properly Small cabin bathrooms Cramped embarkation/disembarkation area Tired-looking guestroom phones Basic Internet – Overpriced. Poolside Drinks & Activities – More complimentary frozen drinks (e.g., Mudslides, Miami Vice) would be appreciated. Roy’s milkshakes were mostly milk with little ice cream. Yogurt machines were nice, but only one operated at a time with one flavor. Entertainment and activities around the pool were minimal even during sunny weather. Guest Relations – Often didn’t answer calls. MINOR ISSUES: Curtains were worn and had small holes. Magician John Lenahan was excellent and funny, but we missed having a comedian. Limited daytime activities beyond lectures and trivia; marketing talks dominated. Embarkation was not smooth. Technology gaps: No app, no live TV, no channel for weather or ship’s track/speed. Pricing transparency: Quotes from Azamara and Costco were identical, but our Vacations-To-Go (VTG) travel agent secured a balcony cabin for $169 less than Azamara’s oceanview quote—and even matched their inside cabin price. For the single traveler in our party, the VTG agent found an oceanview cabin 25% cheaper than Azamara’s single-occupancy rate.

We sailed on Quest for 18 nights. The itinerary was very good, because though we have visited the Caribbean several times, there were a number of ports new to us. Quest is in wonderful shape for a ship of her vintage. Our cabin was well maintained and very comfortable. I think Nyoman was the best cabin attendant we've had in 35 cruises. The public areas were spotless. Excellent service in the lounges, as always. This was our 14th Azamara cruise and I think the food was better than ever. The entertainment was a bit thin (couldn't say much for the shows). We've had much better lounge musicians on prior cruises. But we don't cruise for the entertainment, so not a big deal. Ther only real disappointment for me was Aqualina. The new menu is heavily seafood. That's not my thing and the 2 mains that weren't from the sea were not great. Prime C only on the next cruise. Christmas at sea was peaceful. Azamara gifted everyone an ornament and a box of treats (as if I hadn't already eaten too much) White night was fun, as was the New Years Eve party. All in all a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

We have used Azamara before and have been delighted with all aspects of the cruise. However on this trip there were a few disappointments. Presumably for cost cutting there was a much reduced choice of beers and no dark rum on offer (in the Caribbean!!)and service wasn’t as slick. . Drinks ordered at meals took time to arrive and plates cleared away slower than before. There was also more of a sense of over crowding. At times Windows particularly at breakfast was one huge bun fight with people pushing and jostling. A queue of ten people waiting at the coffee cafe for example. It is still a good cruise experience with friendly staff desperate to please and do their best but I do hope the company is not chipping away at the edges to save costs. In view of the average age why doesn’t Azamara limit children’s age to say 12 or sixteen. There was just one baby on board that screamed a great deal ruining the ambience of the dining room and bars

We had a wonderful cruise. Our 6th with Azamara and booked another one on board. The ship is like a home from home. All the staff are very visible and work really hard to look after you. They give service with a smile always. Good was great and had a special night for Thanksgiving. Captain made regular announcements daily. It was a Caribbean cruise and we did back to back from Barbados to Barbados visiting 13 islands. Ships tours although expensive were very well run and safety was always of concern. Entertainment team were always around the ship engaging with everyone and gave some very impressive shows. Cruise director Darren was also around to speak to and answered many questions for us. Dining areas were great and enjoyed Misaic coffee shop every day. Windows cafe always has great choices for breakfast lunch and dinners. Indian night is always good MDR has great choices and will cater to individual needs.
