Celebrity Flora

Celebrity Flora

All Suite Mega Yacht

Our stunning Celebrity Flora® is the first all-suites, 100-guest ship designed exclusively for sailing these islands, and it’s the first resort at sea in the region to receive a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Rating. Inspired by the islands and built with natural materials, the ship merges seamlessly with the surroundings, giving you a feeling of total immersion. To bring you an even more in-depth experience, certified naturalists from the Galápagos National Park are on board to guide the journey.

Proving you can practice responsible tourism and deliver the ultimate at the same time, Celebrity Flora was built with the latest environmental technologies. The dynamic positioning system allows the mega-yacht to remain on station without dropping anchors, protecting the seabed—and the solar panels supplement electricity, reducing emissions. The result is one of the most eco-friendly ships sailing anywhere—just one reason Celebrity Flora was awarded “Best Cruise Ship” in 2021.

Celebrity Flora® is the first all-suites mega yacht designed for exploring the Galapagos Islands, and it’s the first ship there to receive a Four-Star Rating from Forbes Travel Guide. The Galapagos Islands influenced every decision that went into Celebrity Flora, from an outward-facing design that surrounds you in breathtaking views to locally sourced materials that weave the islands right into the ship itself. The suites ensure your stay in this unspoiled archipelago will be anything but rugged. Even the tenders are custom designed to make your journey more seamless than ever.

As sustainable as it is stunning, Celebrity Flora uses a dynamic positioning system that protects the seabed by allowing the ship to stay on station without anchors. Reverse osmosis turns sea water into all the fresh water we need. Flora’s also the first ship of its size to have solar panels, which supplement the electric supply and reduce emissions. And non-toxic silicone paint helps the hull glide more smoothly through the water with less fuel. Celebrity Flora is a ship that maximizes your Galapagos experience while minimizing our footprint. You’ll never want to Galapagos any other way.

Ship Reviews

We've been wanting to go on this cruise for a while, and finally bit the bullet and reserved our cabin 1.5 years in advance. We booked the 10 day trip, with 2 nights in Quito pre-cruise and 1 night post cruise. We chose a regular balcony cabin (the least expensive category) on deck 5. From the minute we were greeted at the airport to the last day when we we checked-in for our flight, Celebrity took care of everything! We were greeted at the airport in Quito by a Celebrity representative and taken to the JW Marriot on a very nice bus. Check-in to the hotel was very quick. We found 2 backpacks and 2 water bottles in our very nice room. An expansive breakfast was included with the room and we had a full day of visits planned for the day (with meals included). They divided us into smaller groups for our visit to Quito. It was a full but interesting day. Our highlight was the Equator museum. That evening we took our baggage down to the lobby and left it with the Celebrity representative. They would be inspected and then taken to the airport. The next day, we were transfered back to the airport for our flight to Baltra. This is a chartered plane with Avianca. They leave all middle seats empty and serve a cold meal with drinks. A Celebrity representative was on the flight with us. Once in Baltra, we went through security and wisked onto a bus for the 10 minute ride to the pier where we boarded the Zodiac tender to the ship. The ship is beautiful, clean and well organized. Our cabin (they are all called suites) was quite spacious, with a large bathroom, 2 faucet sink, and a drinking faucet with treated water (remineralized). There was a spacious closet with hanging space and shelves, another armoire with shelves and a 4 drawer chest. One night stand had a power source. The TV pivots so you can watch it from the couch or the bed. The spacious balcony had a loveseat, a chair and a table. Every thing was lovely. Meal were quite good, specially the fish and seafood, not so much the beef. All the food is locally sourced. Every evening, before dinner, we had a briefing for the next day's excursions and sign-up. There were always choices like a long hike, a short hike, snorkeling, tender nature ride, and twice during the week a kayak ride. Here is an example of a day: Wake up early, buffet breakfast, then go to the lounge to get your tender number for the first excursion. Depart between 8 and 8:30. Return to the ship around 10. Sometimes there was a second excursion at 10:30 for snorkeling. Get back to the ship, shower and lunch, buffet in the dining room or the grill on deck 7, while the ship sails to the second stop of the day. Downtime until the afternoon excursions that would begin between 3 and 4pm. Back to the ship by 6ish, shower. Gathering in the Discovery lounge for drinks and briefing for the next day. Dinner 7:30 either in the dining room or under the stars. 9:30 pm something was going on in the Discovery lounge, karaoke, silent disco, movie. We were too tired and never made it there. In bed by 10! All the naturalists on board were very knoledgeable and interesting. Beware of boulder walk, it was the hardest one of the week. If you're a half decent swimmer, the deep water snorkel is amazing! We tried beach snorkel once and didn't see much. Every staff member did an incredible job of making our journey memorable. Disembarcation and return home: We were asked to vacate our cabin by 7:30, so that's the time most people went down for breakfast. Afterwards, we were in the Discovery lounge for instructions. For those of us flying back to Quito with Celebrity, we were given our boarding passes and a gift (flash drive with pictures and videos the naturalists took during the week). Tenders started around 10:30 to take us back to the Baltra airport where we waited for our flight in a special lounge (snacks and soft drinks included). On our flight to Quito, we were again offered a nice light lunch. After landing the airport, the Celebrity reps took charge of our luggage and we took busses either back to Quito or in our case to the EB hotel near the airport (we had an early flight the next day). Again check in was quick. We had dinner included. Very early the next morning we met the Celebrity rep in the lobby where we found coffee and a light grab and go breakfast, before were were taken back to the airport for our flight. This is what is provided on the ship: Wetsuit, snorket gear and mesh bag Walking sticks binoculars Water bottle and backpack (if you didn't get them in Quito pre-cruise) Reefsafe sunscreen and lip balm. bathrobes and slippers Here are my recomendations of what to bring with you: For the excursions Lightweight clothes like convertible pants and long sleeve fisherman's shirts that you can wear over a tank top or t-shirt to cover up from the sun. I also liked having capri yoga pants. a pair of hiking shoes or good sports shoes. a pair of sports sandals for wet landings (like Keens or Teva) a pair of water shoes. 2 swim suits a wide brimmed hat Swim rashgard Umbrella (for sun and rain) rain poncho or jacket bug spray For the ship: Shoes (flip flops, sandals) smart casual clothes for evening, nothing fancy. Each passenger gets 2 bags of laundry for free, max 20 items per bag. Laundry takes 24hrs. ***Quito is over 9000 feet above sea level. Altitude sickness is a posibility. We didn't take any risks and asked our doctor for a prescription that needs to start being taken 48 hours before arrival. Alway hydrate!!

So many things to tell about this cruise. The ship is beautiful and spotlessly clean with lots of areas where you can hang out and have drinks or just sit in the sun or in the shade. We went to the pool twice and the hot tub twice and were alone most of the time. The observatory is beautiful but people seem to rarely utilize it. Great night sky viewing on clear nights from deck eight. Our state room attendant was very thoughtful and did a great job. They dining room staff was extremely accommodating. Food was pretty good, not amazing. Desserts were the highlight, and the breakfast buffet was pretty great. We loved the night where they featured local cuisine, and there’s lots of seafood on offer. Cruise director, Lauren and maître D. Boris were both kind and amazing people. Our state room is definitely the largest we’ve ever had on a cruise, particularly the bathroom. They supply you with environmentally, friendly, sunblock, and lip balm along with your other toiletries. Toiletries are mildly and pleasantly scented. The automated drapes in each state room are wonderful when you wake up and want a view of the ocean without having to even get out of bed. pianist in the lounge was excellent. We can’t say enough about the naturalist guides who were all great. You will get way more information out of them than you can possibly process. I do want to say that if you have a mobility problems, this is probably not the cruise for you. There were a lot of older people on this cruise who struggled daily, and the ones who opted in for the high activity level. Excursions honestly held the group back. Please be realistic about your physical capabilities. Was this cruise worth the price? That kind of depends on you, your budget and your interest level in this area of the world and what it has to offer. We had originally booked an alternate cruise on Celebrity’s 16 guest catamaran, but they retired that ship and had to offer us a stateroom on the Flora instead at the same price. Honestly, we could not have afforded the current price listed on the website for this cruise and used airline miles and rejected the pre-cruise and post cruise offerings due to budget constraints. If you are well to do and/or are really into marine life, and specifically Galapagos animals, you will feel that you got what you paid for. And you certainly will be treated very well by all of the staff and should have nothing to complain of on this ship. If it’s your dream to swim with sea turtles, you’ll get to do that. If you were just dying to see Galapagos turtles or the various boobie birds, you’ll be happy with this. If you’re really kind of neutral about those things and are the type of person who enjoys cruises where you are lounging around on deck at see every day, this is not the cruise for you, it would be a waste of your time and money. We are active people in our early to mid 40s so we very much enjoyed ourselves.
