Ship Reviews

We recently returned from a 6-day cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette, cruising from Fort Lauderdale to Key West, the Cayman Islands, and Cozumel. The Silhouette is an older ship and has been refurbished to a very high standard. The boat is beautiful and stately. Our balcony cabin was comfortable, although it lacked adequate storage space aside from the area above the bed, which was not easily accessible. The lack of charging receptacles is the one aspect that reminds us of the ship's age. Food in the buffet and the Cuvee main restaurant was delicious. The food and service at the Maderno specialty restaurant were excellent and highly recommended. The evening entertainment was hit-and-miss. The cast production shows were entertaining, as was the high-energy guest performer Andrew Derbyshire. He is a gifted singer who performed twice during the cruise, including a late-evening extra show. The hypnotist and magician acts were nothing new and predictable. Same old, same old. The music around the ship was good, varied, and enjoyable. The cruise director was one of the best we have had on our 40+ cruises. He is energetic, a talented singer with a great sense of humor. He was seen throughout the ship, participating in various activities. The people who can make or break a cruise are the service staff. As on our many Celebrity cruises, they are top-notch. We experienced excellent service at Café al Bacio, our favorite for coffee, tea, and pastries. Service in Cuvee, the main restaurant, and specialty Murano was excellent. Kudos go to our cabin attendant, Tawah, who took great care of us. We enjoyed the three excursions we took, which included the Conch Train in Key West, the glass-bottom boat in the Caymans, and the submarine in Cozumel. We booked the submarine with an outside agency. This was a memorable experience, traveling 100+ feet to the seafloor. All in all, we love Celebrity and will continue sailing with them.

Celebrity Silhouette review December 13 – 21, 2025. We were eager to return to the ABC islands after a 6 year break. Silhouette has been nicely refreshed, and Celebrity continues to improve the guest experience. Embarkation process at Terminal 29 Port Everglades was quick and orderly. From luggage drop off at the pier to entering the cabin in under 25 minutes. Muster drill takes just minutes and we were off the enjoy lunch at the Oceanview open deck. This itinerary catered to a younger crown than the Transatlantic sailing we’ve been on. More families with kids, but not overwhelming or unruly. There were activities galore each hour from early hours to late at night. Cabin: We had an angled balcony cabin on deck 6 with minor obstruction. The bed was by the bathroom. All the bedding, furniture, drapes were in great shape except for the TV which was rebooting each time it was turned on. After reporting the problem it was quickly fixed by the technician. Our friendly and efficient cabin steward Jose was quick to clean our cabin then we were out, twice every day. Dining: Dinners at the main dining room were very good. The menus were familiar and food came at the correct temperature. Our waiter Angellus and assistant Arvin were so good and in high demand by many guests. Dishes were nicely prepared and presented, portions for main courses were just right. The Oceanview Café was somewhat crowded at times for lunch, but that was expected especially on sea days. The food stations are spread out and lines moved quickly at the pasta and egg stations (at breakfast). Even the lines for ice cream were not as long as in the past. Lunch menu had good variety with “themes” changing daily – American, Mediterranean, British, Latin etc. Entertainment and activities: The headline soloists were very good. Jason Ostrowsky did Elton John and Billy Joel repertoire on two evenings. The new production show “On Broadway” was truly beyond exceptional, as was a “Holiday Extravaganza” production. The enrichment lectures covered many subjects like the Roman Empire, Titanic, Wildlife, Everglades. Ports: After two sunny days at sea arrived in Bonaire. We took a taxi to Chogogo resort and purchased a $25 daypass. Great option for those who have already toured the island on prior visits. Next day we were in Curacao. We booked an independent walking tour with Rayay in the morning and the ships’ Pub Crawl in the afternoon. Reached a new record for number of steps that day! In Aruba we did the Aloe Factory, Saint Nicolas street arts and Baby Beach ship excursion, which was very good. The crew on this ship was so friendly and eager to please. Special note to Ginger, the Captain Club hostess who quickly resolved every issue we had on board. Disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale was also well organized, and free shuttles were provided to the parking garage, since we arrived at terminal 29. Our luggage was easy to locate and the lines were moving quickly through immigration using facial recognition stations. Overall it was a nearly perfect cruise and we will not hesitate to sail again on the Silhouette.

We enjoyed a wonderful 6 nights of cruising on the Silouette with our friends. We have taken many cruises over the years with this couple and had another great memorable experience. We found this ship to be very comfortable and modern with different areas of the ship catering to the various interests of its’ cruise passengers. We were impressed with the size of the library and made good use of it! The food was top notch on this cruise and we regularly enjoyed our favorite meals in the dining room. Bobby, Roshan and Desi were our waiters and sommelier at our table 483. They were outstanding. Additionally, we dined at Murano, which was a deliciously memorable experience with Barin, Chef de Rang, providing attentive service throughout. Our stateroom attendant Bagus was friendly and kept our mini suite in ship shape! He was quick to deliver necessary items and was very helpful throughout the cruise. We would highly recommend this cruise to others!

Celebrity Silhouette – ABC Islands | AquaClass We are A and S, in our early 50s, and have been cruising since our honeymoon. This sailing came at the end of a long, work-heavy year, and what we wanted most was simplicity: no cooking, no cleaning, no logistics—just time and space to slow down. Celebrity Silhouette, sailing to the ABC islands, provided exactly that. ⸻ At a Glance What stood out • Consistently good dining in Blu • An excellent Murano dinner with tableside preparation • A calm, well-designed ship that never felt crowded • Curaçao and Bonaire offering some of the most enjoyable port days of the cruise What to be aware of • Nighttime noise in the cabin occurred every evening and could disturb light sleepers • Murano High Tea did not meet the standard of the restaurant • Aruba was affected by rain, construction, and closed shops • Humidity on the islands was more noticeable than expected ⸻ Before the Cruise We flew SAS Premium Economy from Copenhagen to Miami, arriving a few days early. Starting the trip on land gave us time to reset after the flight and explore Miami beyond the usual highlights. We stayed in Brickell and used a rental car to visit Wynwood, South Beach, and even West Palm Beach, enjoying the contrast between urban Miami and quieter coastal areas. By the time embarkation day arrived, we already felt settled and relaxed. ⸻ Embarkation Embarkation day was busy, with several large ships in port and traffic backing up near the terminal. Once inside, however, the process moved efficiently. Within an hour of arrival, we were onboard. Our first stop was Café al Bacio for coffee and a light snack before heading to the cabin to drop our bags. Lunch followed at Ocean View Café, which was lively but manageable. Sailaway was overcast with a brief shower, but the mood onboard remained festive and unhurried. ⸻ The Ship Celebrity Silhouette remains a beautiful example of the S-class design. The ship feels elegant without being formal, and its layout makes it easy to move between spaces. Even on sea days, we never felt crowded. Public areas were in good condition, and the ship maintained a relaxed rhythm throughout the cruise. ⸻ Our Cabin & AquaClass We stayed in AquaClass cabin, located beneath the Persian Garden. The cabin itself was comfortable and well laid out, and its location generally felt calm. That said, we did experience nighttime noise every evening. It was not overwhelming and was not audible from the balcony, but inside the cabin it was noticeable and could be disruptive for light sleepers. We never identified the exact source, but it is something worth being aware of. The AquaClass experience as a whole felt cohesive—Blu dining, spa access, and a generally quieter atmosphere worked well together. ⸻ Dining Dining was one of the strongest aspects of the cruise. Blu was our primary dining venue and delivered consistently. Breakfasts were particularly enjoyable—unrushed, well prepared, and a pleasant way to start the day. Dinners were equally reliable, with attentive service and a calm ambiance. We dined at Murano on the second evening (Chic Night), and it was exactly as we hoped it would be. Service was polished and confident, and both our main course and dessert were prepared tableside. It felt like a proper evening out and reminded us why Murano remains a favorite across the fleet. Later in the cruise, we attended High Tea at Murano, which was a disappointment. The experience felt disorganized, and the food and service did not reflect the usual Murano standard. ⸻ Sea Days Sea days settled into an easy rhythm. Mornings often began with coffee from Café al Bacio and breakfast in Blu. The rest of the day unfolded naturally—reading, light lunches, cocktails in different bars, and enjoying the ocean views. Evenings typically included dinner, a show, and a quiet drink before turning in. The pace never felt forced. ⸻ Ports of Call Willemstad, Curaçao Willemstad was one of the highlights of the itinerary. After breakfast, we joined a semi-submersible glass-bottom boat tour, which offered a relaxed and informative look at the marine life. The guide was engaging, and the underwater views were excellent. Later, we walked into town, crossing the iconic floating bridge and wandering among the colorful colonial buildings. Holiday decorations added to the atmosphere, and the city felt vibrant without being overwhelming. Kralendijk, Bonaire Bonaire was a day of pure freedom. We rented a golf cart and circled the island, passing turquoise waters, white beaches, salt flats, flamingos, slave huts, and wild donkeys. With only one main road, navigation was simple, and the sense of space was refreshing. Oranjestad, Aruba Aruba was less engaging. Rain, construction, and closed shops limited the experience, and much of the town felt quiet. Not every port can be a standout, and this was one of the more subdued days. ⸻ Entertainment Evenings featured a mix of shows and live music. Performances were professional and enjoyable, with highlights including tribute acts and a variety show featuring multiple onboard artists. Entertainment felt well integrated into the overall cruise experience without dominating it. ⸻ Disembarkation Disembarkation was smooth and efficient. Our bags were ready in the terminal, immigration was quick, and within a short time we were on our way. We drove back toward Miami, made a few final shopping stops, and flew home that evening. By the next day, the suitcases were unpacked and the cruise had already begun to feel like a well-earned memory. ⸻ Final Thoughts This sailing on Celebrity Silhouette delivered exactly what we were hoping for: a calm, well-run cruise with strong dining, enjoyable ports, and a ship that feels comfortable and familiar. While there were a few imperfections—most notably the nightly cabin noise—the overall experience was cohesive and restorative. It was an easy cruise to settle into and one we will remember fondly.

I enjoyed this cruise and the itinerary, especially the sea days because there is lots to do. I also loved my inside cabin. It was just right. I didn't dislike anything about this cruise. The food and drinks throughout the ship was delicious especially in Oceanview Cafe, Cafe al Bacio, Mast Grill and the Main Dining Room. The service was amazing as well, from the stateroom attendant to the waiters and waitresses. My favorite places to eat on the ship were Oceanview Cafe, Main Dining Room and Cafe al Bacio. Excursions: In Willemstad Curacao, I did the trolley tour with tour guide Lourdes. In Kralendijk Bonaire, small group best of Bonaire with tour guide Ginio. For the electro tuk tuk city tour, tour guide Hector and in Oranjestad, Aruba: Destination Highlight: Island Sightseeing and Beach Adventure at Eagle Beach, tour guide Uri. Live in the moment because it goes by really fast!
