Third time in two years on Sky Princess and this trip was by far the best in every department.. from the moment we stepped on board we experienced nothing but top draw service. Food is most probably the best we have had on a cruise since cut backs. No cut backs on this trip. Variety and pipping hot generous servings. Our waiters Emierose and Nico looked after our every need, with a smile and sometimes we shared great laughs. The ports of call were very interesting, although it’s very frustrating having to pay for a shuttle because either the ship is so far from the destination, or , even more frustrating, having to pay because they won’t allow you to walk out of the port. Our cabin was excellent. Clean, plenty of storage and large balcony. Our steward named Dwi was faultless and always had our room shipshape by the time we came back from breakfast. Boarding and disembarking was swift and painless. On sea days afternoon tea in the Estelle was divine. Take Five was our favourite drinking venue but it was disappointing the we missed seeing the Larry King Trio agin by one day. They are legends and loved then on our previous voyage last year. The replacement trio were very lacklustre. . The news that people can smoke in the casino was a real surprise when we complained of smoke fumes in the Take That bar, which is adjacent to the casino. That is very annoying. We have rebooked next year of a 31 days trip on Sky, and can’t wait, hoping they will deliver again in the same way they have done this trip
Not a cruise veteran but been on 8 across different lines .Our favourite ship was apex and we're apprehensive after reading 1 or 2 not great reviews for sky .Well happy to be surprised it was fantastic .For us the food was better far far more choice as well and there were big cutbacks in apex buffet last time we went on and the beef was like shoe leather .Beef was on every day and was fantastic also had roast lamb and chops which wasn't on once on apex last time .The beef wellington was the best I have had and they are not tight with the portions .Buffet was so good we didn't do mdr just crown grill twice where I had the best ribeye I have ever had .Used room service a few times and it was fantastic longest we waited was 10 mins .Loved the medallion although never needed to order anything around the ship as the service was so good everywhere .People on board were great no snobs or idiots at all just a nice crowd .Didn't do pool area as it wasn't warm so can't comment on service there .Used bar mostly in vines and crown grill lounge service was rapid and staff were fantastic happy chatty always smiling but they were throughout the ship .Wish I remembered his name but the black chap carving the meat in the buffet was unbelievably nice and friendly .Ship didn't seem overly busy like we were fearing despite the cold weather and was like a library compared to Iona or arvia .Yes occasionally at certain times some things were busy but you can't expect anything else .I found the buffet less busy than celebrity apex where at times couldn't get a seat .Was in room and never heard a pin drop all week it was so quiet and the lift being at the aft rarely had anyone in it .Quickly learned to avoid mid ship lifts .I would stay in that cabin again especially for the price I paid .Room steward Ian was superb as well .I will be booking this ship again once we have saved up .Only things we didn't like that much were shows but that's a personal taste thing we never like them much we cruise to chill out only went to a couple for something to do although some of the singing was ok .
