We flew to Ft Lauderdale the same day as embarkation. Checked in to the ship around 1:00 pm & the process was a breeze. Well-organized with many friendly/patient staff. Be sure to order your medallion before the cruise as this will save you a lot of time checking in. Load & familiarize yourself with the Princess app & advantages of the Medallion before your cruise. The medallion scores an A+ in my book! Ship was beautiful, clean & fairly easy to navigate. We booked a Jr Suite. The cabin was spacious, but the balcony was tiny. Mattress was superb! Large bathroom with tub. There was a compact fridge but no water, ice or sodas (we both had the drink package) upon arrival. Cabin steward was excellent. The Fresh Market all-day buffet & deck eateries offered delicious options for lunch & afternoon snacks. Shout Out to Gigi's Pizzeria & International Cafe. Unbelievably award-winning EXCELLENT pizza's at Gigi's. And the coffees, sandwiches & desserts at International Cafe are awesome! We opted to have dinner all week in the specialty restaurants. Food was ok & service was very good. However, the Italian Sabatini restaurant, O'Malley Irish Pub & Sushi Restaurant were squeezed into wide open spaces on different levels mid ship. There was live music mid ship. It was very good but also very loud. It echoed throughout these dining areas. Conversations with others in our party was difficult to hear & interrupted the overall atmosphere of a "specialty" restaurant. Note: It was apparent there was a shortage of bartenders and wait staff in the bar areas. Not sure if this was due to passengers with drink packages or if the ship was just short on staff. It was obvious the bartenders were overworked & tired. Room service was terrible. Wait time was exceptionally long & the food was awful. I strongly recommend NOT ordering room service. The on-board entertainment was just ok. Comedians & magicians were subpar. Broadway type shows were lacking the level of talent I've enjoyed on Celebrity & Royal Caribbean. Disembarkation was an efficient, smooth & pleasant process. We opted to take our suitcases with us the morning of exiting rather than putting our suitcases out at 8:00 pm the night before. It was no problem at all. Bottom line - I've been on almost 20 different cruises. I recommend this ship and the Princess Cruise Line for comfort, cleanliness & efficiency.
Rock Opera was so popular that they should have had another seating for us late night owls. It was standing room only both times. We made many new friends on decks 17 and 18 by the Wake bar, pool and the smoking area at the back of the ship! Sadly that bar had awful service - lack of staff. We cleaned our area several times on our own. Winston was amazing however! He tried but he is only one guy with 2 hands. There definitely should have been at least one more serving us than just him. We visited deck 7 to get our drinks after 10pm and back up we went until 1 or 2 am. The ship became ghost like after 10pm. There were many people under 65 on board!! The food was amazing and the service was excellent everywhere else with one last exception. On the night before debarkation; it should be advertised that there is no room service. We were in a mini suite and services should not be cancelled when our cruise isn't over until the next day!!
