Before I dive into the areas that could be improved, I want to start by saying that **this was another excellent Royal Caribbean cruise**. We genuinely had a fantastic vacation, and it's the reason we've become loyal Royal Caribbean guests. For over 20 years we primarily sailed with Carnival and even reached Platinum status. Unfortunately, after several disappointing experiences with declining service, constant upcharges, and policies that seemed designed to nickel-and-dime guests, we decided to give Royal Caribbean a try in 2025. Looking back, it was one of the best vacation decisions we've made. Since switching, every Royal cruise has reminded us why we made the change. The crews have consistently been exceptional, the entertainment is second to none, the ships are beautiful, and Royal still manages to deliver a vacation that feels upscale without being unattainable. We regularly recommend Royal Caribbean to friends, family, and anyone asking us which cruise line they should sail. The reason I'm taking the time to write such a detailed review is because I genuinely want Royal to continue succeeding. Most of the comments below aren't intended as complaints as much as constructive feedback from someone who cruises frequently and wants to see Royal continue improving. Embarkation was mostly smooth, but there was one frustrating issue. Our assigned arrival time was 2:30 PM, and we arrived slightly early at about 2:15 PM. By then, checked luggage had already been discontinued and nearly everyone was already onboard. Fortunately, an incredibly kind porter made an exception for us, but had he not, we would have been forced to drag four large suitcases onto the ship ourselves. If guests are assigned a late arrival time, they should either be guaranteed baggage acceptance or clearly informed beforehand that checked luggage will no longer be available. I was also disappointed that security confiscated our packaged snacks. I understand policies are policies, but after spending several thousand dollars on a cruise, preventing guests from bringing something as simple as a package of cookies feels unnecessarily restrictive. One of my biggest disappointments involved the Royal Beach Club upgrade and Wi-Fi promotion. We upgraded our beverage package largely because the offer prominently advertised complimentary Wi-Fi. We reasonably believed that meant Wi-Fi during the cruise, only to discover after boarding that the benefit only applied while physically at Royal Beach Club in Nassau. Even more frustrating, we never actually used the Beach Club because we already had another excursion scheduled in Nassau and didn't realize that's where the Beach Club was located. Nothing during the purchase process clearly communicated this, and we never received any printed excursion information reminding us about it. Had the offer simply stated "Royal Beach Club Nassau access (includes Wi-Fi while at the Beach Club)," there would have been no confusion. Instead, it felt misleading and resulted in us paying for something we never used. Dining overall was excellent. The Main Dining Room staff delivered some of the best service we've ever experienced on a cruise. A manager named Dan introduced himself the very first evening, made sure everything met our expectations, and continued checking on us throughout the cruise. That level of management visibility is something we greatly appreciated and was a refreshing contrast to experiences we've had on other cruise lines. The food itself was consistently very good, although I do miss some of the premium items that used to be included. I chose to pay the surcharge for Surf & Turf one evening, and while Dan graciously discounted the meal after checking on us, the filet unfortunately wasn't what I expected for a $35 upcharge. If Royal is going to charge premium prices for specialty items, the quality should consistently reflect that premium. The Windjammer continues to be very good, but I couldn't help noticing what appear to be cost-cutting measures. Breakfast fruit selections were much smaller than on previous cruises, pastry selections seemed reduced, and on multiple mornings they ran out of donut holes before breakfast ended. Self-serve ice cream has disappeared in favor of staffed stations with limited hours. None of these changes ruin the cruise, but collectively they remove some of the little touches that have always made cruising feel special. Our balcony cabin was spacious, clean, and well maintained. The only real complaint was the bed. Like many cruise lines, Royal combines two twin mattresses into one larger bed, but the gap between the mattresses made sleeping uncomfortable. On another Royal ship we experienced a setup where a solid platform and single mattress covered both beds, creating a true queen bed. That solution was dramatically better, and I'd love to see it become standard across the fleet. Entertainment continues to be where Royal Caribbean separates itself from the competition. The production shows are absolutely world class. VOICES was one of the most impressive cruise productions I've ever seen, blending incredible performers with outstanding technology and production value. The game shows were equally enjoyable, particularly Finish That Lyric, Generation Showdown, Higher or Lower, Reverse Name That Tune, Rock the Room, and Crazy Quest. Please keep investing in entertainment because it truly sets Royal apart. I also enjoyed the new digital trivia concept, although I wish guests could use a nickname rather than having their legal name displayed publicly on large screens. More importantly, I hope this technology never replaces the personalities of the activities staff. The interaction, humor, and spontaneity that your cruise directors and hosts bring to trivia are part of what makes those events memorable. One operational area that could use improvement is the technical support for activities. Several events were delayed because crew members struggled with microphones, sound systems, lighting, or presentation equipment. These issues weren't the fault of the staff—they simply didn't appear to have sufficient training. Investing in some basic AV training, or even assigning a dedicated technician for entertainment venues, would dramatically improve the overall experience. Bar staffing during popular events was another recurring issue. During karaoke and other packed venues with well over 100 guests, one bartender simply cannot keep up with demand. More than once I was in line over 15 minutes before the show started and still hadn't received my drink by the time the event began. The bartenders themselves worked incredibly hard; they simply needed more help. Speaking of entertainment, charging extra for popcorn at comedy shows and productions felt unnecessary. I don't mind paying for premium snacks, but charging for small bags of average popcorn after guests have already purchased beverage packages and spent thousands on the cruise feels like another unnecessary upcharge. Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at CocoCay was another highlight of our trip. We loved the adults-only atmosphere and had an excellent day. The only issue was transportation back to the ship. Guests were waiting over an hour for trams in nearly 100-degree heat with very little shade. This isn't simply an inconvenience—it has the potential to become a serious safety issue. Fortunately, my partner qualified for medical transportation, but many other guests did not. Royal needs more trams operating during peak departure times. Izumi Hibachi was absolutely outstanding. The chefs were engaging, funny, and incredibly talented. The service was exceptional, and the food was delicious. It was one of our favorite specialty dining experiences and absolutely worth repeating. Finally, I think Royal should reconsider its current theater reservation system. After more than twenty years of cruising, I've rarely seen the main theaters completely full, yet reservations often prevent last-minute cruisers from attending shows. Reserving perhaps 70% of the seats while leaving the remainder available for walk-ins would create a much better guest experience without sacrificing crowd management. Overall, this was another outstanding Royal Caribbean vacation. The crew, service, entertainment, dining, and overall atmosphere continue to remind us why we switched from Carnival and why we continue recommending Royal Caribbean to everyone who asks. My comments above aren't meant to criticize the incredible employees onboard—they work unbelievably hard and consistently exceeded our expectations. Instead, they're directed toward the policies, communication, and operational decisions that I believe could elevate an already excellent cruise experience even further. We'll absolutely sail Royal Caribbean again, and I sincerely hope the company continues investing in the things that have made it our cruise line of choice while avoiding the nickel-and-dime approach that drove us away from the competition.
My family talked my husband and me into going. I am so glad I went! Our cabin had a lovely view and cozy deck. Very comfortable! The entire crew and staff were so friendly. There was so much to see and do for adults, teens and young children on board. I enjoyed breakfast every morning in the Solarium. Entertainment for various ages, like silent Discos ,where everyone is wearing headphones and dancing to a beat.There is surfing and water slides, etc. My grandson, made a dimetrodon( dinosaur) at the children’s clubs.and he was quite pleased. Throughout the ship, there were little ducks hidden in plants, corners etc. The children on board were duck hunting ( treasure hunting) as they moved with their parents to dinner, or to a show, they would find a duck on an elevator, or on a table top. They took such pleasure in it. Collecting them. The high wire act and water show is a must see! I could not believe that two beautiful women could bounce like children on their bottoms off a wire onto their feet and flip over and land on this wire! Breathtaking! Wonderful food choices! 10 stars -Loved it!
Wonder of the Seas was amazing! Our whole party loved it. The boat had so many amazing things to do. The only problem was there wasn’t enough time to fit everything in. I would personally recommend 5 night minimum to experience all the things this boat has to offer. Coco Cay Beach was fun, but I would have a plan in mind as to where you’d like to go and what you’d like to do beforehand. It’s a big island with multiple hangout areas so it’ best to have a plan. I specifically wanted to give a special shout out to our amazing experience on the Royal Beach Club Island. Our party had the time of our lives hanging out at the beach bar/Crazy Captain Bar on the Family/Paradise Beach. David, Crazy David, Dom, Alexander, Lauren, and the other staff around this bar were the life of the party! They made this day an unforgettable experience for our entire group! Looking forward to seeing them again next year!!
