Ship Reviews

Another Wonderful Royal Caribbean Experience I usually sail on Royal Caribbean’s larger ships, so this getaway was meant to be a quick, simple trip. I’ll admit—I expected the ship to feel small and not offer much. I was completely wrong. This ship was fantastic, and the crew made it even better. From day one, everyone treated us like family. I want to give special recognition to Denish and Capella, who truly went above and beyond. They were always smiling, checking in on us, and making sure we had everything we needed. Capella even brought me warm cheese rolls (my favorite!) and kindly cut the steak for my young daughter—small gestures that meant a lot. This cruise reminded me exactly why I continue to choose Royal Caribbean international . Great service, warm hospitality, and a crew that genuinely cares. A wonderful experience overall! 100% recommend Royal Carribean for ur next cruise!

This was our first TA and the first time being back on Royal in 6yrs. We flew to Lisbon the day before and it was such a beautiful city with friendly, welcoming people that we will definitely go back for a longer stay. This was our first time on Explorer but not that class of ship. We had cabin a Promenade view. We've had these cabins before and chose this as we had so many sea days and didn't expect the weather to be good enough for a balcony and nothing to see except water so this worked out well. We had the UDP and the Premium Beverage Package. Pros and Cons for dining were only 3 specialty restaurants so after 13 days it got a little old. We did MDR twice for dinner and once for brunch and once for breakfast. Con for the beverage package is that I drink mostly wine and the wines were of an inferior quality IMO. If you wanted a better wine it could only be had in the dining room or specialty dining. We found the food to be average quality but we thought that 6yrs ago, so no surprise there. The servers we believed to be over worked and understaffed as they were running around in the specialty restaurants as well as the MDR and had no time for anything other than to drop your food off and run. Often times leaving you waiting for another drink or condiments or just cold food. The bar service was great in the pub and the Sky and pool bar. Schooner was almost impossible to get a drink and the R Bar we just found depressing. They did a good job on activities for so many days at sea and Halloween was fun with decorations throughout the ship and a Halloween parade on the Promenade. We had a great cruise and we would sail Royal and Explorer again, but for the food and drink quality we have found that we prefer Celebrity. If anyone has any questions I will try to answer them.

This was a fabulous cruise, better than I expected. The crew & service was great, the food - in the dining rooms, specialty restaurants, & a-La-cart areas - all excellent. I especially appreciated the captain & his team being available to discuss the hurricane & their evasive actions to successfully avoid it. The entertainment was particularly good, a new show every night- all excellent - & interesting cosmos talks in the morning. Enjoyed the daily stretch classes in the gym. Fun Halloween celebrations. The bars were fun & drinks good, waiter service a little slow in Izzy’s. Only have one main critique: smoking should not be allowed anywhere on the ship! The smell carried both on the pool deck, & around the casino (into adjacent bars). In the age of vaping options, there is no justification for passengers to be exposed to the smell of smoke. Otherwise, highly recommend this cruise!

Our first RCL cruise and it was an overall good experience. Starting with the high points, our embarkation was the easiest we've ever had. My wife is mobility impaired so we normally get somewhat expedited boarding assistance. The check-in was fast and there was zero wait time in the pre-boarding process. Having to wait in the buffet area until 2pm was a bit inconvenient but not so bad. The food was very good at both the main dining room and the buffet. We enjoy quality food and we were not disappointed on this ship. Service was excellent at the main dining room and our cabin steward was also wonderful. The balcony cabin was clean and satisfactory albeit at the far back of the ship. Now for the low points. Our cabin was second from the stern end which created difficulty for my wife transiting to and from the elevators. Guest services was unable to change cabins. The adult pool area was not enforced which resulted in 13-15 year old divas filling the hot tubs. The hot tubs in the open area were nothing but splash pools for infants and toddlers, including a few in training shorts. The water was actually cloudy in the open area hot tubs which was a major "Eewww" factor. Pool Chairs were reserved at 7am and no effort was made to remove towels from chairs that were unoccupied for hours. Bar service in the pool area was nonexistent so many trips to the bar itself were necessary. The entertainment was not very good and we left before the end of each presentation in the theater. The R Bar was fantastic. The drink selection on RCL was very good and contained a wide selection of spirits ranging from middle to top shelf. Overall the food was very good with only a couple of missteps regarding food preparation. Eggs over easy might come hard as a rock and not hot. Medium-Rare might come out Medium-Raw but overall it was very good. Appetizers in the Main Dining Room were very good and varied. Deserts were also very good. Waiters in the main dining room were excellent and very attentive. Tendering to Santorini was abysmally slow and over complicated with multiple queues on the ship. Santorini and Mykonos were ok but once is enough for me. Athens and Split were great ports that I'd love to visit again. The disembarkation was almost a death march and quite the opposite of the embarkation. I believe that the walk from the ship to the shuttle pick up point was about a mile. Thank goodness the crewman pushed my wife in the wheelchair all of the way. Oh, lest I forget, the cigar room does not open until 9PM which I found absurd. In the end, we liked the ship overall but there are some areas that need some attention.

I went on a Mediterranean cruise leaving from Italy with stops in Croatia and Greece. Went with my family and everyone is still talking about how great it was several months later. We're already thinking of going back next year. The cruise was amazing and with all of the stops containing dozens of excursion options gave our family so many options to go out as a group or even do individual excursions. We loved the Dubrovnik stop as Croatia is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. We enjoyed some snorkeling and the water was so clear. Then our stop in Santorini is something I continue dreaming about with the amazing views. There were so many things to do on the ship. I personally enjoyed rock-climbing, pickleball, swimming, slides, and the casino. The cruise itself had so many great meal options and I couldn't have asked for a better overall experience.
