Ship Reviews

This was our 20+ Royal Caribbean cruise, so we came aboard with pretty clear expectations. Overall, Allure delivered a fantastic family vacation, and we'd absolutely sail her again. We traveled as three families (6 adults and 6 kids) and stayed in Ultra Spacious Ocean View Family Stateroom. The biggest highlights were the crew, entertainment, and activities. Aqua80Too, the ice show, FlowRider, Ultimate Abyss, zip line, rock climbing wall, and Adventure Ocean kept everyone entertained all week. Our kids asked to go back to Adventure Ocean every single evening, which says everything about the quality of that program. Our cabin was another huge win. The layout is phenomenal. The corner location, oversized portholes, huge walk-in closet, bunk beds, and generous floor space made it one of the best family cabins we've ever booked. The crew was exceptional. Vivek, our Main Dining Room waiter, completely transformed our dining experience after a frustrating start with My Time Dining. Ronald, our stateroom attendant, went above and beyond after one of our children became sick in the cabin. Joe from Sports Activities made a lasting impression by taking extra time to encourage our kids, especially those who couldn't participate in every activity. Those three crew members exemplified the service Royal Caribbean is known for. Embarkation and debarkation were also outstanding. Boarding took less than 15 minutes from curb to ship, and debarkation took about 12 minutes from ship to curb—among the smoothest we've experienced. There were a few disappointments that kept this from being a five-star cruise. The first was the condition of the ship's staterooms. While the public spaces looked great after the Amplification, the cabins still felt worn. Our room had noticeable carpet wear, scuffs, dated finishes, and simply didn't reflect the same level of investment seen throughout the rest of the ship. Second was My Time Dining. The food and service were excellent, but the reservation process for our party of 12 was confusing and inconsistent during the first couple of days. Once we established a standing dinner time, everything was great, but getting there was unnecessarily stressful. Finally, the casino smoke drifted well beyond the casino into several surrounding public areas. Better smoke containment would noticeably improve the onboard atmosphere. Despite those criticisms, Allure remains a fantastic family ship. The entertainment, activities, crew, and overall experience far outweighed the negatives. We'd happily sail her again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to families looking for a fun, activity-filled vacation. Would I sail Allure again? Absolutely.

The cruise was very fun. Tons of onboard activities and the stops in Jamaica and the Bahamas were great. I personally loved the design of the ship. With the main deck as like a Main Street in the ship with an elevating bar and great snacks like pizza with a cool lounge and fun club room with karaoke and game shows which were personally some of the most fun activities on the boat. Other floors included a boardwalk with more shops and snacks with an outside theatre that’s had some decent shows. And above that deck was the Central Park and garden which was a beautiful addition to the ship. On the higher decks with pools and other onboard activities included things to do like an arcade, escape room, zip line, sports court, fun restaurants and an adult only solarium with plenty of hot tubs and bars. My personal favorite activity was the flow rider on the aft of the boat. Although while all of these places were fun in general I felt like places like the pools, the flow rider, and other onboard activities and even with off board (royal Caribbean specific like coco cay and royal beach club) activities had some hit or miss service and friendliness. I give them a little grace since they are living on the boat 24/7 and are constantly trying to be serving the guests but strictly based on what I felt I either felt happy and recognized like by our dining room waiters, bar tenders and some of the flow rider workers or ignored and seen as an inconvenience by some of the lifeguards, flow rider workers and shop workers (not all of them and take this with a grain of salt). One of my biggest problems was the strict policy on the flow rider, that unless you had a blue wristband to prove that you have control on the board you can’t surf the flow rider except for only 2 wipeouts every hour. It was my first time trying it and it felt super annoying when I would wipeout twice in a row and didn’t learn anything only to go sit down for an hour and [think about what I’ve done]. It just didn’t really give me that opportunity to learn and have as much fun as I could have on it. The last critique that I have is that from at least how much I’ve explored on the ship my party couldn’t find anywhere that either wasn’t crowded or playing music at a pretty decent volume (even later at night). It made game nights for our party a little frustrating but even then it was still fun. Overall the experience was awesome. Take my word with a grain of salt cause if you are considering allure of the seas and royal Caribbean for a cruise I would tell you to do it.
