Silver Whisper

Silver Whisper

Refined elegance meets effortless immersion on Silver Whisper — one of the smallest luxury ships to host a World Cruise. From spacious suites to sophisticated venues, each element of the onboard experience is crafted for comfort and connection. A ratio of nearly one crew member for every guest ensures your journey feels tailored to you. And that same attention to detail is central to the ship’s design. Built to access secluded ports, Silver Whisper brings the Pacific’s most elusive edges into focus.

Ship Reviews

Wonderful service from attentive staff but disappointing mechanical issue caused delay in disembarkation. Poor communication from leadership and confusing documentation made for a frustrating situation. Alaska tour guides were excellent. Our suite was beautiful and our butler was very helpful. The fitness center was well appointed and offered a chance to get some exercise on sea days. Even with the tough delay Grace our cruise director was upbeat and kept going. The food is excellent and there are several choices of restaurants. We really enjoyed La Terraza. La Dame is nice but the servers were not that talkative and for the price La Terraza was a better choice. Never did we think that we would be on a ship with mechanical problems. Scary and made the end of our trip much harder. We had to change our flights and hotels. Silver sea may need to look at updating this ship.

The cruise from Tahiti to Honolulu was preceded by 3 days in Papeete where I toured the island and then embarked on Silver Whisper. Although a seasoned sailor it was my first experience on SS (although sailed with other ULL) and was curious to see how I’d like it. At 394 pax it’s a small ship capacity wise but the public areas are extremely spacious and varied The food was EXCEPTIONAL- I’m a real foodie and was very impressed by the variety and quality. The brunch buffet served in the restaurant was spectacular both in abundance and flavour. The cabins are spacious - yes a bit old fashioned with all the wood trim but the bed was very comfortable and USB’s by the bed much appreciated. Loved the walk in wardrobe and a KETTLE! (Being a true Brit I brought my own teabags natch!) Entertainment varied - highlights were a duo called Tiano - Chris and Shimi were delightful and SO good to watch and listen to; top notch! The entertainment team PJ, Eleanora and Jesus were superb - always on form and just great to talk to and laugh with - we all loved them!! As a solo passenger we were very well catered for. Lyle and William hosted the solo’s get together and dinner and we could dip in as we wished but it was great to know there was always someone to have dinner with. Overall the “vibe” of the ship was just lovely - happy staff; friendly passengers and exceptional destinations around French Polynesia. They say it comes from the top so congratulations to the captain and senior management team for bringing the crew together to ensure that every passenger felt valued and their enjoyment was paramount. I’m now booked on SS again - this time to Antarctica!

Wife and I prefer lots of sea days on ships with good enrichment, good gyms, and of a size that features personal service and quality food/wine offerings throughout the day with varied entertainment at night. Siverseas should clear that bar but in our opinion doesn't quite get there. While distinctly better than its corporate siblings, Oceania and Celebrity. We have seen higher standards on Explora and Crystal which are competitive in price. Veranda suite cabin was very nice with large walk-in closet; sizable bathroom with double sink vanity and separate shower and bath tub. Our Butler, Derek, was very helpful and though dressed to fit the title he really didn't do any more than a cabin steward did when I first started cruising in the '80's. Housekeeping was thorough and unobtrusive. Dining: open seating main dining room excellent at dinner, included wines were drinkable if not exciting. Menu selections changed frequently with exotic sounding options plus "steakhouse standards." Unfortunately almost all tables for two seemed to be near noisy waiter stations. Other dining options include the outside grill (casual at lunch, fancier in the evenings). Nice potential but subject to Goldilocks weather neither too hot nor too cold/wet/windy. La Dame, at its best, is a high touch haute cuisine French restaurant. At an upcharge of $60 per person, it's for special occasions. The final option is La Terrazzo which is an excellent Italian restaurant in the evening but a totally dysfunctional hybrid buffet/casual dining venue at lunch and breakfast. The buffet is too tight for the crowd at times and to us seemed understaffed. As an example, we could never get bread toasted in the morning (by staff behind the line) when you wanted it to go with hot eggs, etc. (self-serve). That's more like summer camp. Entertainment was varied and better than average in a nicely appointed showroom with adequate seating for virtually everyone. Trivia was outstanding. There were several good speakers: a comedian/comic writer; a historian specializing in military intelligence; a cultural historian who did a great job introducing the ports; an art historian; and a naturalist. The latter was totally disappointing not well organized or very eloquent. If you're interested in a casino, the minimalist gaming options here will disappoint. Bar service was a bit of a mixed bag. When not too crowded the main bar can turn out a well made cocktail but at prime time you may be disappointed. Puzzler: the olives saved with martinis are small with pits. Remember this ship is 25 years old though recently refurbished. Bad cruise? Of course not. Great cruise? Close but no banana!
