On the 24th, transfer to the port and embark the Azamara Quest for a seventeen-night voyage from the Pacific to the Caribbean. Sail down Mexico's coast to Cabo San Lucas, where the desert meets the sea, and on to the beaches and old town of Puerto Vallarta. Continue to Central America with calls at Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala, Acajutla in El Salvador and Puntarenas in Costa Rica, a gateway to rainforest and wildlife. The highlight is a full-day transit of the Panama Canal, one of the great engineering feats of the world. Then sail on to Cartagena, where an overnight stay lets you see its colourful colonial old town by day and by night.
